You are visiting: Home > Components > Component: Animal Models & Experimental Systems Component: Animal Models & Experimental SystemsThe overall task assigned to the Animal Models and Experimental Systems Component is to develop, maintain and produce animal and cell culture models of angiogenesis for analysis. Please choose the folowing items to find more information about this component.
GoalsThe Animal Models and Experimental Systems Component is responsible for developing,
maintaining and producing animal and cell culture models of angiogenesis for
study. These models are applied to study the variation in angiogenic phenotypes
of consomic rats. The vascular endothelial cells cultured for these studies
receive either in vivo electrical stimulation of the muscle surrounding the
vessels containing the cells, or in vitro stimulation by hypoxia or MatriGel™
Basement Membrane Matrix. Milestones: 10/1/2002 - 05/18/2005The milestones listed from October 1, 2002 to May 18, 2005 were to set up the lab, and to produce cells from 6 consomic strains of rats for study by the Proteomics and Technology Development Component (Component 1) and the Protein Analysis and Technology Implementation Component (Component 3).
